Over the last few months, God has been gently speaking to my heart about media. I love the convenience and the immediacy of emails and texts. More than that, however, I love a sweet card in the mail. It is so much fun and brings such a smile to my heart to open the mail and find an envelope with my name on it that it NOT a bill! I used to be the best thank you and thinking about you note writer...until I began thanking and think of people through text and email. It's just not the same. The Lord is speaking to me about being more intentional to write hand written notes of encouragement and appreciation, the kind that will be a smile to someones face as they open the mail. I am working on it! As He is speaking to my heart, I read 2 John and 3 John.
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that your joy may be full. 2 John 12
Just one more step in the right direction. I have realized over the past year how reliant we have become as a society on social media to booster relationships...but is it really adding to the RELATIONSHIP?
I think not. I am able to keep us with "friends" and their going-ons, to pray when they post that their day is cruddy, and to laugh with a post, but they don't always know that I am. A relationship is more than texts, e-mails, LOLs and status post...it is face to face encounters. It the hug of a friend when your day is cruddy, the smile you see as you share a laugh and the genuine look on their face as you converse.
2John 12 says it all... to speak face to face, that your joy may be FULL!
Make time to SEE your friends; to enrich each other's lives by a face to face encounter. I may take more time...but it will have greater rewards in the end.
