They Fell to The Ground

This was so poignant to me as I read it last night.

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?  They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I Am. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. John 18:4-6

Sadness encompassed my heart for these soldiers. They had come seeking to arrest a main "claiming" to be the Son of God. What they encountered was the Truth that He WAS the Son of God. Don't you know they KNEW, at that very moment, that Jesus WAS who He claimed to be?  At the sound of His name "I Am"

"They went backward and fell to the ground."

We don't hear anymore of the soldiers' story.  We don't know if their hearts were hardened to the saving grace that bled before them on Calvary   We don't know if they ever grasped the magnitude of who Christ was and that He died to save them from an eternity of darkness, grief, pain and sorrow. I hope they did.

Sadly, I see the same response in people today.  There is power there, but they cannot accept it and they turn to journey down the path they have carved out for themselves.  Not that this path is filled with evil, NO...It's just void of salvation, redemption and power.  I pray that I may be a vessel, void of my selfish pride, that will give hope to the hopeless and grace to the ones that need it most.

What a compassionate Savior I serve.

I, too, want to share His love with others so they can voluntarily bow and confess that He is Lord and see the life change that occurs.

Lord, prepare those, whom you love, to hear your voice. Soften their hearts to hear and receive Truth and be set free, rescued, redeemed and filled with hope.

The Gate Beautiful

Lame all His life...he sits and begs for alms.  He has no other means of earning money for food, lodging or clothing. Day after day, men carry him to his "post" where he is vulnerable...where he is on display...where he is at the mercy of strangers. We are not unlike this man.  We too, have been crippled since birth.  Sin is in our wiring.  It is our very nature.  Pride rises up and we demand our rights.  We want to play sports, but our grades would just keep us on the we cheat.  We are entertained non-stop and at a ridiculous price, sometime sacrificing our  finances, health, and sometimes family and friends. Our spouse just isn't who we we look to gratify our flesh in another's arms.

We sit at the gate of beautiful begging...for LIFE.

...and then two men pass by and notice him as he calls out for alms.  They have none...but what they give to him, is the LIFE he never knew he would taste.

"Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength, And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him." Acts 3:6-7

They gave him Jesus...

You see...the LIFE that was given here is NOT the gained strength a man received that very moment  after a lifetime of being crippled. It's not even that he could physically run around leaping and dancing...NO!  The LIFE here was the Saviour, Redeemer, Friend that he was introduced to.  Read carefully...he was 'walking, leaping and PRAISING GOD'! You see...the use of his feet didn't bring him LIFE, it merely gave him reason to shout it from the rooftops that there is a God, and He is active in the lives of His creation.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

As we sit at the Gate Beautiful and beg for LIFE...don't miss your change to receive true LIFE! The Saviour is waiting...even give you this free gift if you have not already taken hold of it in your life.  He is our Redeemer!  He will redeem the areas of your life that you feel are crippled...even now as you try to walk according to His will. He can and will set you free and give you LIFE! have to ask.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

Intentional Living

He is waiting. He has given us the Holy Spirit so that we are not alone.  He has given us Godly companions, that we might have someone to take us be the 'right hand, and lift us up.' Gird yourself in the strength of the Lord. Ask Him for strength to get up off the ground and walk...NO leap and run...because of the LIFE you have in Jesus!
